2010 Church Council Meeting Minutes
June 22, 2010
The regular monthly meeting of the Bethany Lutheran Church Council was held on Tuesday, May 25, 2010, and called to order at 7:15 p.m., in Room 210 with President Andy Gift presiding. Members present included Derek Birznieks, Heather Kekstadt, Kevin McAuliffe, Terry Pickett, Del Hock, Pastor Ruth Ann Loughry, Pastor Ron Glusenkamp, Brenda Greenwald, Bill King, Dan George, and Becky Godec. Maren Diercks, Michelle Stone Kraus, Ron Guse, Joel Halvorson, Don Abram, and Peggy Furgason were excused. At 7:03 pm. Derek Birznieks opened the meeting with a Walk With Jesus devotion.

Motions:
Motion A – Bill King moved to approve the May Council Minutes and Derek Birznieks seconded. It was approved unanimously.
Motion B – Del Hock moved and Derek Birznieks seconded to use Founder’s Campaign savings to fund program positions of internship ($10,500), VBS/Summer SS/BECC curriculum ($13,500), Health & Wellness ($6000), and Family Ministry/Faith Milestones ($6000) in the first half of the 2010/11 budget year. It was approved unanimously.
Motion C – Del Hock moved and Derek Birznieks seconded to use $6000 of Founder’s Campaign savings for a property request to install shades in the west narthex. It was approved unanimously.
Recommendations:
- Look at the second half of they year’s budget to determine if use of the Founder’s Campaign Savings is needed in the last half of the budget year for the current positions, if not use it for new programs.
Action Items:
- Kevin Dragseth will set up a grief counseling program for youth, continue training adults to work in youth ministry, and connect what youth do at home with the congregation. He is also working with Rainbow Trail to set up the next international mission trip.
The meeting adjourned with prayer by Pastor Ron at 8:45 p.m.
