The Latest News!

Read All About It! The fall issue of our foundations newsletter is at the printer and ready to be mailed- but you can read it on-line now at www.lutherameninmission.org. This issue was written by Vic Williams who is Publisher of Fairways + Greens Magazine (www.fairwaysandgreens.com) and a member of Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Reno, Nevada. Read (and see lots of pictures) about:

  • The Lutheran Men’s Gathering this summer- see pictures of the musicians, speakers and, maybe, you!  After Denver, what do you do now?
  • A tribute to Harry Arne, the first president of Lutheran Men in Mission, who passed away July 29.
  • A column from our newly elected President, Rich White, from South Riding, VA

If you are not on our quarterly newsletter mailing list and would like to be, please contact Kim Moseley at Kimberley.Moseley@elca.org with your name and address. She will be happy to add you to the list.

Upcoming Events: While at www.lutheranmeninmission.org be sure to check out the “events” tab. One Year to Live is the most life changing men’s event we have seen and there are retreats scheduled for Wisconsin, Colorado, Nebraska, South Carolina and Minnesota in the weeks and months to come. Building Men for Christ is a one day workshop for church staff and leaders (male and female) designed to assist leaders in more effectively engaging men in the congregation. A training is scheduled this fall for the greater Madison, WI area. Please continue to check out our website for events that will be added.

Video Bible Study: Our friends at Lutheran Hour Ministries/Men’s Network have produced a 30 minute video Bible study featuring NASCAR legend and broadcaster Ned Jarrett. Ned is active with Lutheran Men in Mission in North Carolina and was a speaker at our 2005 Lutheran Men’s Gathering. This video is a part of the Beyond the Spotlight series and is accompanied by a Bible study for groups. You can download the video and Bible study at http://www.lhmmen.com/studydetail.asp?id=18435

Pray! This ministry continues to grow and bring men closer to Christ because there are many on their knees praying for renewal and revival among men. Included in that number is the two hundred or so of us that come together each week electronically with Men of Prayer . This prayer reminder is sent out the first part of each week and includes the scripture for the next Sunday, some questions to consider regarding that scripture and prayers for our leadership and spiritual renewal among men. If you would like to be added to the Men of Prayer  list please let me know at doug.haugen@elca.org

  • Our vision: That every man have a deeper relationship with
  • Jesus Christ through an effective men’s ministry in every congregation.
  • Thank you for being part of the vision!
  • Doug

We will also be reading and reviewing a series of Bible lessons entitled, “Attitude Adjustment, Down But Not Out,” and how Bible heroes handle pressure.
