Quilters

He will have compassion on the poor and needy, and the lives of the needy he will save. (Psalm 72:13)

Woven in the fabric of Bethany Lutheran Church are the Priscilla Quilters.  For nearly thirty years, the Priscilla Quilters have been meeting at Bethany.  Organized in 1970, the Bethany Quilters united for the purpose of creating quilts for Lutheran World Relief.  In twenty-nine years, the group has created one hundred and eleven quilts and donated more than $11,000.00 to Bethany.

Today, the Priscilla Quilters continue to meet every Wednesday at 9:30am  The waiting list of quilt tops has grown to two pages, evidence to the strength of their ministry.  Participation is open to anyone that has a love of quilting.

Needlepointers

Commit your works to the Lord … (Proverbs 16:3)

The Bethany needlepoint group has complete beautiful art work for the church including the altar kneelers that we use each Sunday for Holy Communion.  In 2007, the group completed the Stations of the Cross project that was dedicated on Palm Sunday.  The next project is currently being planned.

Most of the work will be done in basketweave stitch; the work will be accomplished through many hands but will look as if it were created by one person.  Experienced needleworkers are preferred, but if you don’t know needlepoint, we’ll teach you!  Anyone is welcome to participate in this project, including men!
