Worship Groups
Bethany provides ushers for all of our worship services. Responsibilities include the greeting members and visitors as they enter the Sanctuary, provide bulletins and other worship resources as necessary, help worshipers locate seats, collect the offering, monitor safety and security during each worship event and clean-up bulletins, papers, tissues, etc. following each worship service so the Sanctuary is ready for the next group. We’re always looking for more to serve in this way either as a regular or a substitute usher.

The Sacristans manage the worship services by tending to the pastors, acolytes, and lectors. They help with the communion and baptisms, carry the processional cross, and take care of any details that come up during worship.

Altar Guild members prepare for Holy Communion and Baptisms, keep the altar paraments and candles in good repair, oversee the acolyte program and help as needed in the worship service.

Lectors read the weekly lesson for the day that is chosen by the pastor at each worship service on Sunday mornings. The lesson is available on the website by the Thursday before each Sunday for lectors to review prior to Sunday.

Communion assistants help serve communion at each of the worship services on Sunday morning. The assistant will join the pastors and others who will be serving communion at the altar during the offering. The assistant will distribute both the wine and the bread to the communicants (”Body and blood of Christ, given for you”).

For our Sunday worship services, the cantor leads the congregation through the singing of the liturgy. The cantor will join the pastor at the altar during the singing of the first hymn.
